Inspiration
"The Night of The Doctor"
In 2014 I drew a series of pencil drawings inspired from the short Dr Who mini episode written by Steven Moffatt and starring Paul McGann as The Doctor. I was amazed by Moffatt's writing skills in compacting so much narrative in just an 8 minute mini episode.

I was fortunate to attend a short talk in London about "The Night of The Doctor" attended by Steven Moffatt, John Hurt and Paul McGann. The Anniversary episode is exceptional for viewers as it was a surprise to see Paul McGann on television as The Doctor and he finally gets his regeneration.

The story feels fresh and intriguing as Paul McGann is playing him after a substantial amount of time has passed since the 1996 TV Movie. I really liked the Doctor's costume which had been redesigned alluding to a mysterious Victorian adventurer.
I worked from still photographs from Doctor Who Magazine but found myself having to re-watch the episode again to capture further detail. The third drawing is more detailed and took longer to finish. I decided to add the dalek in at the last minute to create tension and danger. Alhough no daleks appear in the episode they are mentioned in the narrative.
