Over craggy castle ruins
Clouds turn the day to dusk,
Hollow window sockets stare,
Knowing life once in its skeletons husk.
A cannon shot of thunder explodes,
Undermining any sense of ease.
Water starts cascading from the sky.
How long before it reaches my knees?
Sinking sensations beneath my feet
As I grind the gravel path.
I lean to the wall to shelter from the storm,
Awaiting its aftermath.
Stoned and stung by ice ball bearings,
I reluctantly soldier on.
Plodding numbly down flooded lanes
Finding all trace of dry land gone. |
